200 HOUR YOGA TEACHER TRAINING: GUEST TEACHERS
As part of the training we’ll be joined by some amazing guest teachers who will help you explore certain topics in more depth. These guest teacher sessions take place online as part of your on-going mentorship.
Please note that these were the teachers for the 2024 cohort - the 2025 faculty will be confirmed in summer.
LAURA SYRAT
Our wonderful support teacher
Throughout the YTT Laura will be by my side to lead some lectures, guide some classes, and offer extra support and advice for your journey. She’s hugely knowledgeable and wonderfully kind, and I’m excited that you have the opportunity to learn from her.
SUNIL AND ISABELLE
Kirtan - music and mantra chanting
Sunil and Isabelle will be leading us through a beautiful kirtan session to experience the powerful practice of bhakti yoga. This takes place in-person and the atmosphere is amazing.
PRASAD RANGNEKAR
The yogic mindset and decision making
Using yogic philosophy and teachings from the Bhagavad Gita, Prasad will encourage a discussion on various considerations for decision making in the 21st century. His session will highlight how yogic philosophy and frameworks can be applied to our modern day lifestyles, providing you with insights into your daily decisions and inspiration for taking your yoga practice off your mat.
KAREN JAMES
Chair yoga
Karen will guide you through a creative yoga class using the wall and a chair for support. She’ll inspire you with innovative ways to use props and offer advice on how to make your classes more accessible and supportive.
KRISTINE SOFIEDAL
Yoga for every body
Kristine will help ensure that your classes are accessible for people of all shapes and sizes. She’ll help to make your language and cues more inclusive, share her favourite ways to use props, and show you a variety of ways to adapt asanas to suit each body.
VIKRAM SINGH
Cultural appropriation
Vikram will facilitate a discussion on appropriation and commercialisation within the yoga industry. By understanding yoga’s evolution, including the role of colonialism and important cultural aspects, you’ll be better equipped to appreciate rather than appropriate yoga.
IRINA DEMCHENKO
Meditation and mindfulness
Irina will share some helpful insights on how you can build your own meditation practice, and guide your students through wonderful meditations too. She’ll also share a bit about the power of gratitude and mindfulness and how you can incorporate these practices into your personal life as well as your teaching.
ABHA RAJBHANDARI
The neuroscience of yoga
Abha is an Assistant Professor of psychiatry and neuroscience, and a life-long yoga practitioner. Her research lab is focused on understanding the interactions between the brain and body in regulation of stress, fear, and anxiety disorders. During her session she’ll introduce you to some fascinating findings in relation to the nervous system and it’s application to yoga.
EMILY PAIGE
Embodiment and trauma considerations
Everyone has different lived experiences and making sure your yoga classes are inclusive is an important consideration. As a result of trauma, people often feel less safe in their own body as well as in the yoga studio. Emily will share some simple embodiment techniques to help your students re-connect and feel more present and grounded in both their body, and the space.
